Chemistry course that uses memory techniques

A while back I found a chemistry course - I think to learn the periodic table with the use of memory techniques. I thought I ran across it here but I cannot find it. Does anyone know of anything out there like this?

Unfortunately not. I do have an interest in coming up with visualization techniques to learn chemistry. chemistry is difficult to marry with these techniques. However, I have the sense that if someone figures out how to do it, it would make chemistry so much easier for students who memorize this way. My son will be taking chemistry in high school next year so I'll be working on it in earnest then and am looking forward to it. I have found some good YouTube videos with little stories how to memorize oxidation numbers and a couple of other similar tricks. They were good. I have memorized the periodic table but it's not really a way that would work for many people but basically uses a video game as a memory palace for all 109 or so elements. Let me know if you make progress with chemistry and these techniques.

Hi Guys,

I studied Chemistry in University prior to learning memory techniques. The only thing with chemistry is that you don't really need to learn off the periodic table or anything like that. You usually have all the information in front of you and apart from self satisfaction, fun and maybe as an interesting trick, there is no real benefit to knowing the periodictable of elements and the associated atomic masses and electronegativity values.

What might be better to learn is what you get when you combine various chemicals, I think this would be much more useful and would make you much more 'McGyver' like :-)

Best,

Séamus

Hey,

I actually had to learn the period table when i was in chemistry, but I believed it was only the first couple of rows. Anyways, I decided to learn the whole table with the atomic masses. It was quite fun and was probably one of the bigger things I ever memorized beside cow patterns!

I used images found online for the periodic table, still strong in my mind. Periodic table for all. http://mt.artofmemory.com/forums/periodic-table-for-all-by-all-5418.html

Hello!
Does anyone know universities in the world, where he teaches a mnemonics course ?
Thanks!
