Getting Going

Hello

I am new to using memory training techniques.
I have been reading this site thoroughly since yesterday, plus other sources (plus books).
I am getting into a muddle and spending lots of time 'thinking' despite watching videos etc

Here are my blocks..

I want to memorise my first aid training (CPR) that I keep forgetting. I watched online tutorial but then struggled to imagine how I could put all the details on a Loci

I wanted to memorise 37 verses of a spiritual text (word for word).. became slightly overwhelmed... (what is a realistic time frame to learn something like this?)

How should a beginner pace themselves?
Unfortunately I feel as though I need a bit of structure and direction with it all so far.

I did however manage to learn some of the countries in Asia using Loci in my bedroom!

Thank you in advance for any help :-)

Every beginning is hard :)
Start off with writing down a list of all the things you want to remember. Like the basics of every first aid situation, make sure that the environment is safe to work in (not in the middle of a busy road), make sure you position yourself and the injured person in a way that you can work (so not with your back pressed against a wall) and then get a complete image of what happened and what the sustained injury is exactly. In other words, Place, Position, Problem. Three P's, so I see three guys Peeing on my loci.

Since you are just beginning, a few weeks to a few months, depending on how long the verses are and how many times you need to recall the information before you got it completely.

As a beginner, start with creating a system on something that interests you. Names-Faces, Words, Numbers, Cards, etc.
Alongside with that, create memory palaces. The more you make, the easier it will be to make more.

Thanks for your help Mayarra...
When you say start create memory palaces do you mean imaginary ones or rooms in my house and walks in surrounding areas?
I started using my living room as a continent (Africa) then placing country names and other facts in that room... is that right? also I started putting my spiritual text verses into parts of that room also... although think I will stop as I want to remember them even if I no longer live in my house any more...

Am I correct in thinking that once you have added a word to a Loci you can then add more information related to that (say country) onto that loci or would it get very cluttered?

I realise these questions are asked all over the forum but its been hard to understand at times as I need an example...
Thanks again... :-) :-) :-)

Just need to add....

If I want to create an imaginary loci for my spiritual verses... could anyone give me an example of what I might do?

Is an imaginary palace a place I know? for example my old house growing up?
how exactly does this work?

If I create memory in imaginary spaces how can I retrieve the information if i have no prompt?
Or would it be better going for a walk in local area?

Thank you!!!!!
